Things come is clusters

Pneumonia is fairly common in young kids. They usually come in with cough and fever, and most of them are well enough to be treated at home. After a few days on antibiotics, they are back to normal. I infrequently see critically ill or older patients with lung infections.

This week was an anomaly. I had six cases of severe pneumonia in adolescents. Each had a part or entire lung completely socked-in with pus. All required hospitalization and most needed oxygen. I am unsure what has caused this cluster of patients to appear, but as of today, I expect them all to make a full recovery.
