Glow, baby, Glow

Today was relaxing. We had brunch by the beach and just sat around swimming and talking. At 4:00pm we all boarded a bus and departed for  the bioluminescent bay in Fajardo.

After a brief safety talk, we each boarded our kayaks and headed out. Some people seemed experienced and some were weaving back and forth out of control. It was pretty funny.

As the sun began to set, we made our way down a small channel of water covered by intimidating mangrove trees. After 30 minutes we arrived at the famous bay.

On first impression, most people were underwhelmed with the glowing of the water. However, when darkness was complete, the bright green glow of the water was undeniably impressive. We each dipped our hands in, shook them around and gazed at the millions of tiny, brilliant phytoplankton.

Hi Chris – I rode with you on the plane coming back from Liberia last February. I live near Savannah and we had a long talk about our beliefs. I have gone back and read and enjoyed all of your blogs. I see you will be married in a couple of days and wanted to say “Congratulations” and may God bless your union.
