I really like food and I generally like variety. In the US, not much brightens my day like trying a new cuisine.
Apparently in the DR Congo, things are different. I have a nearly daily craving for pesto sauce. On bread, in pasta or just by itself.
It is a comfort food. My grandfather’s family was from Genoa, Italy and my mom prepared “green spaghetti” regularly during my childhood. When I eat pesto, I feel closer to home.
