Truly sad

As I was leaving the hospital tonight, I passed by Isaac’s room. I opened the door but was surprised he was not in bed. Then I heard whimpers from the bathroom. I hurried over and found him lying face down in a pool of water and urine. He had attempted to use the restroom on his own, fell and was too weak to stand.

I immediately bent down to pick him up and brought him to bed. I tried to lay him down, but he refused. He curled up in my lap, tucked his head under my chin and tightly grasped his arms around my chest. He sat there for 30 minutes, shaking and sobbing.

As I prepared to leave, I placed him supine on the bed and covered him with a light sheet. He then grasped the back of my head and pulled it to his chest. He was still petrified to be alone.
