Gone in the blink of an eye

Chance was an adorable 9 year-old boy with AIDS. He had survived multiple opportunistic infections and was admitted two days ago for mouth ulcers. He was in pain but managed to smile, greet our team and talk with us.

Yesterday evening, he worsened, became more lethargic and started having seizures. His mouth infection likely spread to his brain. When I arrived at his bedside, his seizure was finishing and his face was covered in blood oozing from his oral sores. He looked horrible.

We tried giving all of the useful antibiotics available, but nothing would help him. By the morning, he was dead.

I love being a doctor but watching children die, day after day, is nauseating.

I can’t imagine what you go thru but I have read you have helped many before! Hopefully the plus beat out the minuses!
