Driving across Tibet

The scenery is beautiful. Today we awoke in Nyalam, a small village in southern Tibet. As we began our drive, lunar-like landscape surrounded us as far as the eye could see. After a few hours we entered a series of valleys with simple one-storied painted white stone houses dotted around fields of wheat and potatoes. Just after noon we made our way up a ridge and had a panoramic view of the Himalayas. In the distance, we saw the wind gusted peak of Mount Everest. The view was breath taking (partly because we were at 17,000 feet).
