Always another side

On Easter I wrote about a novel “Into Thin Air” by Jon Krakauer. I stated that is was a wonderful read.

Afterwards, I did a bit more research and read a few supplementary novels on the 1996 Mount Everest disaster. There is no doubt that Krakauer is a great writer but many view him as a self-serving, vindictive man who tells stories for dramatic effect rather than truth.

I would still encourage the reading of his book, but I would also ask that you read “The Climb” by Anatoli Boukreev to see a dramatically different point of view.
