Our arrival

We landed in Dili today. We took a quick tour of the city and settled down in a small hotel with electricity and running water. This was a nice treat.

The international peacekeeping presence here is impressive. There are white vehicles with large black “UN” letters (for United Nations) and UN peacekeepers everywhere. We had dinner a few hours ago and the restaurant was filled with expatriates. I had a long conversation with two Australian colonels and a very high ranking Pakistani officer dined one table over.
