I have seen Mousa many times since I arrived. He walks around the hospital in the mornings and sits on the grass in the afternoon. He loves to play and is always smiling. Each time I walk by, he stares up at me with large, bright eyes and a grin ear to ear.
I finally sat down to talk with him. He is 10 years-old, likes to be in the company of others and could munch on cookies all day long. He loves to watch soccer and wants to become a doctor when he is older.
A few months ago, Mousa developed an “infection” necessitating amputation of his left hand and right lower leg. Despite the dramatic life change, he has adapted well and has learned to hobble around with a crutch.
Mousa is healthy now and is simply waiting for a leg prosthesis. His family does not have the $150 and is hoping for a donation.
