One of my goals of this trip was to provide quality education on various pediatric topics. After my first lecture experience (see blog entry on a little teaching), I became more familiar with the Congolese teaching style. I have subsequently given several seminars. Topics have included tachyarrhythmias (fast heart rates), necrotizing enterocolitis (intestinal disease in newborns), pulmonary function, mechanical ventilator management and skin diseases. The students and doctors seem to be interested. I absolutely love when the eager young physician approaches me afterwards and ask how to learn more on the subject. I feel like I may be making a small difference!
